Dr. Fauci starts by talking about his comments from this weekend. He says it is obvious that if mitigation and social distancing started earlier more lives would have been saved. He adds President Trump recommended mitigation the first time Fauci recommended it.

Dr. Fauci said he used "poor choice" of words yesterday.

A reporter asked if he was being pushed into clarifying his statements and Fauci showed a flash of annoyance.

He said, "Everything I do is voluntary. Please, don't even imply that."
