Playing around with data about China which contains information about over 4000 investments >$2 trillion globally (2015-2019). People going bonkers over HDFC, note that they have a stake in Ola, Zomato, BigBasket, Paytm, Flipkart, and MMT. Huawei alone has $100 mn invested.
Now, most of the apps are on my iOS phone. Of course, we can only guess, but what a part of the arrangement of China with these companies is on data-sharing as well? Most of them are startups, in negative, so it's not like they would care.
Now, some might argue that this data ain't strategic, but you can use data from Ola, BigBasket, and similar on-demand apps to create intelligent 5G solutions for the urban landscape. Again, this would give the likes of Huawei and edge over local IT firms, no?
What if, tomorrow, these companies dilute their stakes further, or get into a more elaborate data sharing agreement. Again, India's data is of high value if we are to create AI solutions for the future. Data of 2.5 billion people, and you can take the US for a toss.
Interestingly, the data from @AEI doesn't factor in the HDFC investment from 2019.
