why is it that intelligent men cannot have a philosophical(specifically) conversation about patriarchy? i promise i won’t bite this time cause i wanna kno..
I only say intellectual because I think most students will agree that it takes a certain AMOUNT of study to digest something from a philosophers prospective.. this question is designed to turn what may seem like stones into gemshttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🔮" title="Crystal ball" aria-label="Emoji: Crystal ball">
Logical people know that you can’t blame one gender or even a relative action for any general action or behavior. Only logic has a place in philosophy and this conversation. All the stereotypes and personal perceptions can’t go far here cause they are guesses.https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="💯" title="Hundred points symbol" aria-label="Emoji: Hundred points symbol">
I’m having trouble getting most men to shake the feeling that this is a trap but the conversation is progressinghttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="☺️" title="Smiling face" aria-label="Emoji: Smiling face">. All of them want to discuss it in reference to their home dynamic so far but I’m interested in seeing how the views change when a societal approach is taken.
It is worth noting that when asked, no one has a ready answer for any concrete benefits to patriarchy in the home. More as it develops.
It is often time harder to see a privilege if you are the one benefiting from it. most men will admit that men are not more important than women and vice versa. They will go on to admit that because they need us too patriarchy is flawed. That is where men are stopping..https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">

This thread is really for me to learn. If you don’t feel you can have a conversation about patriarchy and women without making a case for the plight of the black man or white man or incarcerated man or baby daddy then please don’t bother. This thread is about women.
