Consistent w/ expectations, today's @COVID19Tracking report shows US #COVID19 DEATHS appear to have peaked Apr 10, ~18 days after current Mar 23-26 peak in cases by DATE OF ILLNESS ONSET (DOIO). Apparent 3-day lag in reporting DOIO suggests peak may be closer to 3.23 than 3.26.
If peak DOIO occurred on/near Mar 23, ~5 day incubation period implies peak infection occurred on/near Mar 18 - before most mandated lockdowns took effect.
Recent research suggests impact of lockdowns on later deaths may not be that strong. Other factors - handwashing, social distancing, no big events - perhaps more important. See: Let’s Visualize State-by-State Shutdown Effectiveness on COVID-19 by @yinonw https://link.medium.com/z7tV9g0yD5
