Switching my mindset and the metric by how I judge my PnL & execution of trade plans to R multiples (% of equity for me) has been a game changer.

Sometimes a win or loss may seem large until I convert it to R and learn the win was decent, but nothing special and the loss was actually tiny.

Teaches you to celebrate good trading, risk management, & proper trade plan execution imo as opposed to just large PnL& #39;s.

Not only is it a great metric to measure and judge your growth, it is also a management tool for my emotions.

My R tells me when I have a mediocre trade or a great trade, not my PnL. I am most pleased when I trade well; especially if trading well means stopping out as planned.

Over 2020 my R has grown and being able to convert everything into R relative to my growth at that specific point in time, allows me to be able to judge & compare my trading performance by proper execution & risk management regardless of my size or PnL.
