Whew. I am being taken to some heavy (in a good way) questions about how we view the world, power, and everything else.

It breaks my heart in all of the small ways that having power and doing right by others is so often divorced in our world. /1
I don't often shed tears, but this might be the reason I almost do. In our fiction, it is so easy to find a way to be on the wrong side of things, but good?

Just good for goodness sake?

I don't know if we know how to let that happen even in a world we imagine. /2
By this I mean, a place where good is the default and where evil is an exception rather than having to be the light in the darkness.

The most frequent truth I run into is that the world my whole soul wishes for doesn't make a good story. /3
Because "what kind of story could you make where nothing bad is happening? Why would people choose to do good things if there weren't evil to oppose it? What good is light without shadow?"

But y'all: that's the world my heart wants. /4
When the shadow appears, I would hope that there would be people who saw this before and went, "We said never again and we meant it. We *will not* go back to those times."

No trying to gouge people. No struggle for power. People looking out for each other because OF COURSE. /5
Maybe that's because I'll never know that world in my lifetime and I know that even if I'll expend my whole self helping to build that world for someone else to enjoy.

One question at a time, though. /🌻
