How do you teach grammar online? It's a big part of the pathway business writing course I teach in the summer. Face-to-face, I approach grammar using students' own work. Ss freewrite or bring a draft, then we use it to think about the jobs different words do.
For example, if we're learning about making subjects and verbs agree, we'll underline verbs in one colour, then who's doing the verb in another, then work in pairs to see if the subjects and verbs match, and rewrite those that don't. Usually, we have one grammar focus per week.
I'm thinking that instead of doing 1 grammar focus per week, I will have 4 modules in 3 week cycles:
Week 1: We explore the concept
Week 2: We apply the concept to an assignment.
Week 3: We focus on grammar using the assignment draft .
Maybe students could conference with me about their draft (I usually do 2 conferences per semester, but thinking of doing 1 per assignment), and there could be an element of peer review.

Anyhow, I'd love to see how others teach grammar without worksheets.
