I genuinely don't understand the extreme reaction to eugenics. Like most things, it seems like a pretty dangerous thing that can be used for terrible purposes (like racism), but also has potential use as a good thing (like curing diseases). It's complicated and nuanced.

And this intense knee-jerk reaction I'm seeing about "EUGENICS=BAD" just... like... ok yes i understand that it has been used for very bad things but that does not inherently make it bad. You seem to be ok with people aborting down syndrome fetuses, so at least be consistent.

OK UPDATE: It seems like a lot of commentators are pointing out that eugenics implies state control or overarching force. I did not have this as an association with the word. If eugenics *necessarily* implies the use of force then yeah it seems way worse.
