Rights are freedoms every human being inherently possesses from God that do not demand positive actions from other individuals, but only require the negative duty not to interfere with or restrict them. https://twitter.com/IlhanMN/status/1249688128153141255
A right to healthcare would demand the positive duty to provide healthcare, making healthcare not a right. This "right" would depend on others being subjugated to the will of others and their rights violated. Government exists to secure rights. The Prophet Joseph Smith said:
"The laws of men may guarantee protection in the honorable pursuits of this life, & the temporal happiness arising from a protection against unjust insults & injuries; & when this is said, all is said, that can be in truth, of the power, extent, & influence of the laws of men."
Providing healthcare via government action would go beyond protecting individuals in their pursuits from unjust injuries and thus, according the Prophet Joseph Smith, wouldn't fall under the proper role of law and government.
As such, those who value agency and rights should resist such policies that go beyond the proper role of government and violate the rights of individuals. #latterdayfreemen #liberty #healthcare #latterdaysaints
