BREAKING: @BernieSanders endorses @JoeBiden

"Today I am asking all Americans, every democrat, every independent, and a lot of Republicans, to support [Biden's] candidacy, which I endorse... to defeat the most dangerous president in modern history"
"We gotta make Trump a one-term president and we need you in the White House," Sanders tells Biden, "and I will do all that I can to see that that happens, Joe"

Says Trump is a "racist, a homophobe, a xenophobe and a bigot."
Biden: "Bernie I want to thank you... your endorsement means a great deal."

Says people will be surprised that he and Sanders are "apart on some issues, but awfully close on a whole bunch of others."
Sanders concurs: "There are some areas where we disagree but some where we are fairly close"

Gives raising the minimum wage as an example, Biden says he's "extremely supportive" of that.
Observation: Sanders has a much more friendly rapport with Biden than he ever really had with Clinton.
Biden: "This country wasn't built by wall street or CEOs. It was built by workers... unions. Ordinary people from the neighborhoods you and I grew up in doing extraordinary things given half a chance."
Biden: "When unions are doing well everyone is doing well. And Bernie you and I have spent our careers fighting for these folks and I'm looking forward to working with you. I'm gonna need you badly."
Biden: "What policies do we need to address for the concerns of young people?"

Sanders: "Free public education has got to go beyond twelfth grade."
Biden: "My deceased son is still paying off his [student] loan. My daughter is still paying off her loan."

Background: Beau Biden was the Attorney General of Delaware who died in 2015 at age 46.
Biden says there should be a "new cabinet office on pandemics"

Also says he wants to "put millions of immigrants on a pathway to citizenship"
Biden: "I'm pleased to announce that Bernie and I have agreed to establish six policy working groups."

- Economy
- Education
- Criminal justice reform
- Immigration
- Climate change
- Economy (?)
Sanders closes by saying "given the enormous challenges we face, we don't have a choice. We're gonna have to come together.

We're the richest country in the history of the world. We should not have half a million homeless. We shouldn't have workers living paycheck to paycheck."
Sanders says he knows Biden is "the kinda guy who is gonna be inclusive" and wants to "bring people in even people who disagree with you."

"Let's respect each other, let's address the challenges we face, and in that regard Joe I very much look forward to working with you."
Biden says to Sanders supporters "I see you, I hear you, I understand the urgency of what it is we have to get done in this country."

"The more the merrier. We need to defeat Donald Trump. And when we do that... we can transform this nation."
Biden says with Sanders' help, his administration could "go down as the most progressive administration since Roosevelt."
