This is my gran, Ann. She's turns 92 next month.

She's one of my favourite people in the world and I've spent literally thousands of hours drinking tea with her over the years.

THREAD
She's told me lots of stories over the years:
- The time her house was bombed as a child in WW2.
- Sitting one of her O-Level exams during D-Day.
- Briefly dating Sir Roger Bannister before he ran *that* 4 minute mile.

And many, many more....
But there was one story that's just too good for it not to be shared.

In 1952, now fully trained as a Doctor, my granny was on call on a ward in London when suddenly a young man is brought in vomiting blood and extremely unwell...
My gran, being the absolute hero she is, puts him on a drip (she has since told me this was not the right thing to do, but I'm not a doctor so...).

The drip works a dream and he wakes up feeling incredible and can't stop thanking my granny (she claims he fell in love with her.)
Now here's where it gets interesting... The man, Henry, turns out to be a film producer and in his excitement at having his life being saved decides to phone a film director who he's making a new film with and bring him to the hospital ward.
The director turns up and Henry starts telling him that my granny should be the star of his new film.

I really love my gran and she's a very talented person, but an actress she's not.

Luckily the director dampens the idea and my gran's close shave with stardom denied.
The film ended up being "A Town Called Alice" starring Virginia McKenna.

Virginia won a BAFTA for Best Actress for her performance and the film itself won several other BAFTAs.
Post this saga, my gran met and married a fellow Dr, Ian, my grandfather.

Fun fact about my grandpa, he had a brief cameo in OSCAR winning "How Green Was My Valley" (the film that beat Citizen Kane"
Oh and my grandpa once spent the day taking Elizabeth Taylor round London pubs (yes, really.)

Henry and my granny remained friends and Henry became my uncle's godfather.
