Here is a positional play thread from @Coach_Dorman on @FCBfemeni and how they utilize three types of superiorities (positional, numerical & qualitative) using a specific game example vs. @RayoFemenino Jan 18, 2020
Positional superiority:

Here Barcelona have positioned the #3 and #11 in positions to receive the pass from #5 in a position between the oppositions forward & midfield lines of defense. Lieke Martens has moved inside and checked deeper to find space & receive unopposed.
Positional superiority:

With Martens receiving a pass that has eliminated lines of pressure, she has been able to turn and run with the ball into space. A 2v1 situation has been created with the #3 (Melanie Serrano) vs. the #2 of Rayo.
Positional Superiority:

In this example, #11 Martens has moved infield & again looks to position herself between oppositions horizontal defensive lines. With #3 Serrano moving into an attacking position, the #2 of Rayo has a dilemma, needing to defend two spaces and two players.
Positional Superiority:

In this example, Barcelona show positional superiority through #10 Hermoso who has positioned herself between the oppositions defensive lines. Barcelona also demonstrate positional fluidity, with #3 Serrano now positioned on the last line of pressure.
Positional Superiority:

Rayo have a compact defensive shape, however #11 Martens has recognized space & moved infield to receive a vertical pass from #10 Hermoso. She is looking to a) exploit the space behind the midfield line of Rayo & also provoke pressure from defensive line.
Positional Superiority:

With Martens now combining with #9 Oshoala, who has drawn the CB of Rayo outside the central channel, the space can be exploited through the timing & direction of #11 Martens run.
Barcelona clearly show positive positional play through these examples, looking to generate positional superiority. This refers to being 'better positioned' than the opponent (IE in areas to be able to receive the ball facing forward, eliminating pressure).
Numerical Superiority:

Numerical superiority is easier to recognize but is also a key component of the positional play of Barcelona. #6 Hamraoui has played a horizontal pass into #11 Martens. Combined with the movement of #3 Serrano a 2v1 situation on the left side is exploited.
Numerical Superiority:

In the attacking third, Barcelona need to be fluid in movement to generate numerical superiority. Here Rayo have moved to defend 2v2 in the wide left channel.
Numerical Superiority:

In order to create +1 (3v2), #10 Hermoso has moved from occupying space on last line of pressure to a support position. The defender, worried about remaining compact has not followed, thus a new 2v1 (3v2) situation around the ball is created.
Numerical Superiority:

This example creates a goal scoring change through the movement of both #9 Oshoala to create & #10 Hermoso to exploit, a 3v2 situation on the far post.
Numerical Superiority:

#9 Oshoala made a decoy run to the near post which drew x1 CB of Rayo out from the central zone. A delayed run from #10 Hermoso was able to exploit this and create a +1 situation on the far post & numerical superiority in a key zone of the field.
Numerical superiority refers to the amount of players in a specific space or zone of the field. Barcelona have to be creative & fluid in movement, especially in middle & attacking thirds when facing low/medium defensive blocks in order to create +1 (or more) situations.
Qualitative superiority:

Barcelona attempt to create situations which the best attackers are matched 1v1 with space to attack 1v1 or space to run behind. Example, #3 Serrano has not eliminated pressure but her positioning has created more space for Martens to attack 1v1.
