Good morning! Here are birds seen in or from my yard this morning, in order of appearance (mini-thread): 1/ our local merlin, hanging out across the street. I have never seen him hunt, so I don't know what he's been catching;
/ Mr. Allen's was on the job early this morning, trash-talking all the other hummers;
/ a very noisy and conspicuous Cooper's hawk, looking very well-feed and fluffy;
/ Mr. Spotted towhee. Those red eyes always make him look like he's been up all night smoking cigarettes and drinking espressos;
/ Lark sparrow visiting for breakfast;
/ White-winged doves, a mourning dove and a pair of brown-headed cowbirds eating breakfast together;
/ a California thrasher eating sunflower seeds. I love the way they toss the food in the air and catch it;
/ Mr. Anna's hummingbird telling me off. The end.
