1. PREPARING. IS. KEY.
drafting is such a big must for me, i use my notes and google docs to write down literally ANYTHING about my novel i may want to add or remember and print it out - usually i have nine pages worth but its honestly whatever pace works best personally!

1A. PREPARING. IS. KEY.
- as i said above, OUTLINE! OUTLINE! OUTLINE!
- the link recommends Evernote, which is something im still playing around with so i'll update this thread once i figure it out.
- create a map of ideas!! this connects to outlines!

1B. PREPARING. IS. KEY.
- it's very important to plan out your book, 100%, but don't overplan it! i've done this before, and usually this is the result of overthinking and stress.

2. making a measurable deadline & a reasonable writing goal works!
ive learned it really is harder to complete your project and even write when you dont have a deadline or goal to push you to reach your task! i have a whiteboard in my bedroom with goals for certain books!

3. utilize the right tools.
wattpad, fanfic, or whatever writing platform you may be using is nice - but not all of them give you the free space to edit, draft, and outline like iphone notes, google docs, or even an actual notebook does.

4. get to know your characters before ANYTHING else.
this is SO important. there is nothing more annoying than reading something and SUDDENLY the entire personality of the central character changes, or the author doesn't fully tell the reader what's happening in a scene!

4A. get to know your characters before ANYTHING else.
adding on to the above, the better you know ALL your characters (fanfiction or not) the easier and more fluidly your story will be told! think of it as this: get to know your characters as you would your closest friend.

5. schedule a reasonable time in the day to write, and ACTUALLY do it!
make time during the day to write when there is minimal distractions, sit down, and actually write! turn off your twitter, instagram, and snapchat notifications - disconnect from the internet if you can!

5A. schedule a reasonable time to write [CONTD.]
all in all, the more you make time for yourself to write, the close you'll be to finishing your book! by minimizing the distractions, you feel more free to jot down anything you want -

5B. - without having the temptation to pick up your phone and go on social media.
this is what i have been doing since this past saturday, and let me just say that by removing myself from my phone in GENERAL, ive written way more than i usually have with my phone beside me.

6. just WRITE! edit LATER.
* this is one of the most helpful tips i've learned *
as you write your first draft, just keep writing - don't stop to edit or revise a sentence. just. keep. swim- i mean writing.

7. write FAST BABY F A S T.
if you are somebody like me who's set a deadline for your book(s), writing fast helps you reach your goal! it truly does prevent second guessing while in the writing process! but don't write TOO fast - or you might get writer's hand, ouchie

8. SHARE YOUR WRITING WITH SOMEBODY!
i will admit, i don't do this ALL the time, but if i'm writing something that i know one of my writing buddies would be into, i'll normally reach out to them and ask for their opinion and allow them to make suggestions or share ideas!

9. take a break every now and then, but a CREATIVE one!
sometimes if I'm burnt out or tired, rather than taking a nap or picking up my phone i like to listen to music, take a walk and bring my notebook with me, or even sit outside in my backyard with my notebook and sketch!

10. playlists work!
by making a music playlist in your notebook or in your music about a character, story, etc., it helps paint the picture overall and even gives more ideas!
