explaining anitwt terms for people new to anitwt; a thread

if you feel like I explained something in a wrong way, or have any other questions please dm me, I really tried my best!

let's start of with something most of you already know.
《ANITWT》- anitwt is the anime community on twitter. some might seem intimidating but we're actually really nice and welcoming!

《MUTUAL/MOOT》- being somebody's moot/mutual is when you follow them and they follow you back!

《OOMF》- oomf stands for "one of my followers".

《ANITWTSELFIEDAY》- it happens every friday, then you post selfies that you can edit by adding pictures of your favourite anime characters,etc...(you don't have to edit if you don't want to!)
ALWAYS PUT THE # !

《ANITWTSELFIEDAY》 pt2- we always hype up our moots by liking/rting!
an app you can use for editing is picsart but there are many others!
please never save pictures of others without their consent, even though your intention might not be bad you should never do that!

《SOFTBLOCKING》- it means blocking somebody, and then unblocking them right after so they wouldn't follow you anymore and you would stop following them, in that way you stop being mutuals!

《MID》- it's a way of saying something is trash/bad,etc...

《SKINNY RATIO》- when a person has a huge amount of followers but doesn't follow a lot of people.
{for example: 1,5k followers, following 35 people}
('fat' ratio is the opposite!)

《CARRD》- carrd is a website that you can make as a way of introducing people to your profile, you can put info like age, pronouns, etc...

most of you already know these but I saw few that don't:
s word/ed- means "suspended"
yw-you're welcome
ig- I guess
smh- shaking my head/so much hate
istg- I swear to God
rn- right now
gm/gn-goodnight/morning
ofc-of course/of fucking course

《WAIFU》- the easiest way to explain is your anime wife. a female fictional character you're attracted to/love

《IRLS》- irl means in real life, basically people you know in your real life

《SIMP》- simp is somebody who would do everything for a girl/boy they like but most likely not getting anything in return. in conclusion they do way too much for a person they like.
(this is the best way I can explain this I'm sorry)

《CW/RW》- cw means currently watching and rw means currently reading!
《IA》- ia means inactive!

《FANCAM》- a video of a celebrity taken by a fan at a concert, show, etc... they are mostly used in arguments or as a way of promoting your fav artist!
on anitwt 'fancams' we have are actually edits! some people use inshot and snow for 'fancams' but there are many other apps!

《AU-》 used in fanfiction and means alternate universe!
《TW》- means trigger warning, used when you post something that your followers might find triggering
《DN》- display name
《LAYOUT》- layout is your icon+header, they can match but they don't have to!

《LOCKDOWN》-this means the person is talking only about a certain thing
(exmp: Balance:Unlimited Lockdown)

some shortened versions of anime names because I was confused when I first joined!
bnha/mha-boku no hero academia/my hero academia
bsd- bungo stray dogs
hq- haikyuu
kny- kimetsu no yaiba/demon slayer
yoi- yuri on ice
tpn-the promised neverland
ohshc-ouran highschool host club
etc

~Why is it important to put your pronouns in your bio?~
It's a way to normalise putting our pronouns in our bio and an easier way all of us can interact without accidentally misgendering each other! PLEASE PUT YOUR PRONOUNS!!

~Why should you put your age in your bio?~
if you're a minor who is uncomfortable with telling everyone their age, at least put "minor" in your bio! this way everyone can know and protect minors on anitwt!

DO NOT REPOST FANART/ART IN GENERAL WITHOUT GIVING CREDIT TO THE ARTIST!

~EXPLAINING THINGS YOU MIGHT FIND IN OUR BIOS~
{#}(exmp #OIKAWA:...) it's used when you want to quote something a character has said or a quote you think they would say-
{+63} if you see this, that means the person is from the Philippines! it's their telephone country code!
