i'm seriously getting stressed out from twitter. my trigger is being misunderstood or misrepresented because the abuse i've suffered for years has been gaslighting. i've always been gaslit, devalued, and belittled.
it's part of why i am a creator and why my goal is to introduce and nurture empathy in my fellow leftists. it's easy to build walls and develop kneejerk responses to perceived bigotry and write people off. it's a common coping mechanism. i understand.
but we can't grow that way. we can't connect that way. it won't be healthy 100% of the time. we have to give people chances to learn or do better, but not the chance to hurt us.
it's a delicate balance and the way you figure this out is by trial and error and also by knowing yourself. you don't have to teach anyone and twitter gives you the tool to protect yourself from ignorance or cruelty in the form of blocking and muting. use this tool.
if you feel the need to speak, speak your pain, but don't spew venom. and always leave the conversation when it's hurting more than helping. and if you're the one being educated and there's some harassment in the mix, protect yourself but remember to revisit the criticism.
on twitter the more followers you have the more feedback you have. the volume gets more overwhelming the larger your following, but still come back to learn from the criticism. you'll know it's criticism because it won't attack your character but address your action or words.
take the time to process what's happened and to analyze what's all being said to you. discard the hatred, but keep the lessons. we need to not engage in playground arguments that say much about nothing. we need to connect and network effectively.
shit's hittin the fan and we need to come together not fall apart. fuck this binary narrative idea. this is not an us vs them. leftist discourse shouldn't become liberal id pol bullshit. it should be a productive conversation where we leave our cliques to form solutions.
