A short thread on the drive in church service thing:
To be clear, taking people’s license plate numbers and harassing them for parking cars next to each other while worshiping together in their own cars is pretty dumb and outside of the scope of reasonable. No matter what else I say here, this is what I believe.
If you want to speak up against that, fine, I’m with you. If you want to endure the harassment and worship together anyway, fine, I’m with you. If you want to vote for different leaders next time, fine, I’m with you.
If you want to use it as a foothold to introduce other ideas like this quarantine is illegitimate and we should defy it, or that it’s some conspiracy, or act like having your license number recorded qualifies you for Foxe’s Book of Martyrs, you’ve lost me.
It is harassment, brothers and sisters. It really is.

But, may I ask: Where was the fervor for the sick & dying that we’re seeing now for the violation of our constitutional rights? Where was the intensity & focus for the suffering that we now see (and often see) for politics?
As you consider the answer to that question let me point out that God has MUCH more to say about the value of the suffering and of human life than He does about the civil rights of His elect.
Look, I’m not here to say that we should be sanguine in the face of mild persecution. It’s serious & we should examine it seriously, being shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves in our response.

But I am here to say that the church needs to examine it’s priorities.
