“R&B is dead” is just a poor way of saying “I’m not feeling this new sound of R&B” and that’s totally fine.

To say the genre is dead is a slap in the face to many artists making efforts to push the genre. Including veteran artists who are still putting out music.
Everyone has this obsession with the “90’s era” and bringing back that “old sound” and it’s like.... bruh wake the fuck up were in 2020.

R&B “fans” and “listeners” use nostalgia to sustain structure in a genre that has always seen CHANGE.
Studying R&B and Soul music you’ll see the change of sounds, songwriting, and the overall song format throughout eras.

From the 60s’, 70s’, 80s’, 90s, 2000s’ and 2010s’. The genre of music have always been a genre of new sounds and change.
Y’all been obsessed with the 90s’ for an entire decade, y’all not tired of wearing Aaliyah costumes and listening to your 90’s R&B Pandora radio?

I just feel like your love for an certain era shouldn’t make you disregard the new talents of an genre.
