been seeing articles about grooming changes for ppl during self isolation +it's (mildly) interesting to note with finality that my own choices are really +truly not reliant on being in public. i like to go full glam, or not, strictly according to mood +the weather +work im doing
(this is in no way a value judgement of other ppl's preferences!)
it's what i always figured and actually argued with ppl over at times (when they suggested i made choices with intent to create reactions, that i knew were literally just me choosing what made me happy/comfortable) but being forced to go unseen just clinched it.
everyone has their own internal relationship to outward appearance and whether or not/to what extent that's informed by other ppl's opinions...i hope for ppl whose relationship with self is fraught due to outside interference, this break=peaceful/rejuvenating

also i should note that ive definitely had to sacrifice my preference on many occasions bc of fear/danger and that is a related but separate issue (how our need to go less noticed by would-be abusers/oppressors informs our 'choices' as we move in public)
basically this thread is "do you keep clean and enjoy your own style with no audience?"
"why yes!"
"do you require audience to create self-adornment?"
"why no!"
that is all. lol
