I am going to run as many miles as I can possibly mentally handle in my backyard this morning, AMA
5 minutes in to it update: this uh sure is going to take a while
I present to you the slowest flat mile I have ever run. Everything I read from ppl who have done this said the hardest part is that you can’t get a stride going and I didn’t believe them. Onward!
The worst part of this is that it’s raining and I haven’t really seen all that many walkers or runners on the sidewalks. The sidewalks (and bike lanes!) have been clogged constantly since the end of March. But I did a tweet abt running in my yard and I am an honest tweeter.
I just heard the police loudspeakers at Morley Field blasting THE PARK IS CLOSED NO RUNNING and my weird neighbor just walked by brushing his teeth (?) and p sure I heard him spit on the sidewalk, so I feel a renewed spring in my step!
49 minutes update: just now realized I hadn’t put any music on, things are q dire
The sun is out, it’s warming up, I’m still at it and still slow... but the sidewalks are way filling up outside with pedestrians so at least I have my smugness
tbh once I got past a certain point I probably could have gone on for hours
I could also see myself being okay with doing this for like 20 min at a time whenever I want to run. Life felt a tiny bit less bleak for a little while weirdly.
