dean winchester is bisexual; a thread
so from the second season we get a light tease of dean not being straight. in “playthings” dean asks why the clerk thought he and sam were a couple, and sam says “maybe he thought we were overcompensating” to which dean laughs at, before it quickly goes away and he looks away-
which is a common reaction to when someone is correct about something embarrassing or secret. this is kind of minor, and if it was the only thing alluding to dean being bisexual, most people wouldn’t think he was bi. but obviously, this is not the only hint.
one of the more favored moments when it comes to dean’s bisexuality is season 5, “changing channels” when dean meets dr. sexy. in this scene, dean acts like a school girl whose crush just walked in. he’s in way to much awe and he’s far too giddy for him to just think he’s cool.
there’s the “gay thing” scenes when dean is followed by a man and is flustered when he finds out it was because the guy thought he was good looking. however, when he talks to sam, he’s almost nonchalant about it, like it’s happened before.
it could be argued dean and benny were too close and dean struggling too much with k*lling him and leaving him in purgatory for dean to just be friends with him, but it’s a 50/50 argument, so it’s kinda left for people to debate.
and now, i’m going to move onto the most overwhelming evidence; castiel.
dean and castiel’s meeting isn’t blatantly sexual or romantic, but there’s enough tension to leave people wondering. and y’know, this line too.
over the course of the past 11 seasons, dean and cas have had a bond, one that can only be compared to sam and dean’s in how much they care about the other.
season 8 is practically filled to the brim with moments between the two, like their first hug and dean’s depression about castiel being left behind, and even the scene where castiel shaves and gets into clean clothes has plenty of sexual tension.
also, the line at the end of season seven is something so romantic. if you compare this line to some of the ones from the vampire diaries, they have around the same level of romantic passion.
i could go on for hundreds of tweets about castiel and dean’s timeline (but that’s something i’ll do later), so i’ll just go ahead and put in one or two more.
season 13 is a fantastic example of the reaction someone has when they lose a loved one. for starters, dean has a very empty look when they give cas a hunters funeral. it’s like he can’t comprehend his loss.
there’s 13x01 when dean loses his temper and hurts his hand from punching a sign out of rage from the incident, and dean has little to no affection for jack at all.
yes, some of that is because he is lucifer’s son, but dean almost immediately takes to jack when castiel returns and likes jack. castiel likes jack, so bam, dean likes jack.
also, dean is thrilled when castiel returns. i mean literally, the episode before, he was talking about how he felt like a failure, and the second cas is back, he’s perky and making jokes and is back to his old self.
for a few bonus moments, there’s the fact that dean made cas a mixtape (who does that for just a friend??), the “never change” line on the side of the road, and the line of “dean and i do share a more profound bond”.
to wrap it up, just watch dean’s treatment towards castiel over the series. he trusts castiel more than anybody, sometimes even sam. if dean has a problem, he tends to go to both castiel and sam, despite the fact that dean has no familial obligation to tell castiel anything.
he protects him, he shows grief that can only rival with his grief over sam, and dean treats him like most people do a husband or a wife. even when they’re on bad terms, it typically ends with the realization they can’t stay mad at each other. sounds like husbands to me.
and to top it off, i’ll leave you with this nice gif of dean being pinned down by a guy from behind from 1x01.
