EMPTY CLUB CHALLENGE - THE RESULTS

42,344 of you voted in the opinion poll. B was the clear favourite, with 48.6%. A was next with 33.9%, then D (10.7%), then C (6.8%).

But which was correct?
The power of the internet to offer such detailed insights into the minutiae of chocolate wrapping on a locked-down Easter Monday cannot be overstated. Much of this insight, though based on sound reasoning, was ultimately incorrect.
An honourable mention to a few people who analysed the handwriting and thought D's was done on an empty wrapper with nothing to press against. Sadly this is based on an incorrect assumption (see https://twitter.com/elocemearg/status/1249655480772964352)
Some of you went for C or D because of slight imperfections, or, in some cases, because they were "too perfect". I'm afraid you've overthought this. Both C and D contained chocolate. The answer is one of the two front-runners.
Most of you went for A or B, with an overall preference for B. The most common reasoning given for A was the crumpled foil on the left. Team B argued that B's front edge appears to be hovering over the paper, suggesting it's much lighter than the others.
Some of you thought you saw a tear in the left-hand side of B's foil, exposing chocolate underneath. However, a look at the top view will show this was just a reflection in a dent - a trick of the light. No chocolate was visible anywhere in the pictures...
... and there was certainly no chocolate visible in B, because B was the correct answer! The wisdom of the crowd was right.

The front edge sitting slightly higher due to the lack of weight was the key to solving this one.

The slightly crumpled foil on A was entirely natural.
To stymie any suggestion of switcheroo shenanigans, I filmed this before I unwrapped them all. Thanks for playing, everyone!
