šŸšØULTIMATE DONOVAN MITCHELL THREADšŸšØ

This thread is about his best games so far.

It seems that some Jazz fans need to be reminded how BLESSED we are to have this guy. They need to see that this 23 year old All Star and future SUPERSTAR must NOT BE MOVED at ANY COST.
Lets start by reminding everyone that 13 teams had the chance to get this guy but passed on him. Iā€™m sure theyā€™re all regretting their decision now. (except maybe the Celtics)
Now weā€™ll do Donovanā€™s first 20 point game. A game against the Lakers on October 28th, 2017. He had 22 points including this FILTHY putback dunk.

Now itā€™s time for Donovanā€™s first great game. A 41 point performance on December 1st, 2017. He dropped 29 in the 2nd half and 17 in the 4th Q.

Of course when you drop 41 your rookie season, youā€™re gonna break some records. (All of these would be at the time this game occurred.)

Most points by a Jazz rookie in a game

Most points by any rookie since Blake Griffin in 2010-2011
With Donovan dropping 41 as a rookie, he joined elite company. The only active players to drop 40+ as a rookie are:

LeBron James
Carmelo Anthony
Kevin Durant
Blake Griffin
Stephen Curry
Eric Gordon
Trae Young
On December 30th, Donovan went out and balled out. He out-dueled LeBron James on his birthday in a home win against the Cavs.

Full State Line:
29 points
6 assists
4 rebounds
3 steals
1 block
+6
10/17 FG (59%)
2/6 3PT (33%)
7/8 FT (88%)

Jazz win 104-101
LeBron had some choice words about Donovan in the post game interview. Hereā€™s the full interview for you to go watch.

ā€œHeā€™s a player, kid got a lot of game. They been riding that wave all season when they realized what they got.ā€
Donovan didnā€™t drop just one 40 point game in his rookie season. He dropped another one against the Suns on February 2nd, 2018.

Full Stat Line:

6 assists
5 rebounds
2 steals
14/19 FG (74%)

Jazz win 129-97
Another one of Donovanā€™s great games was one against the Spurs on March 23, 2018. He dropped 35 points in an OT loss. He also hit a 3 to go to OT.

First Jazz rookie to score 40 in a game
Other miscellaneous regular season records/accomplishments for Donovan.

First rookie to have multiple 40 point games since Allen Iverson (1996-1997)

Passed Damian Lillard for most threes made as a rookie in NBA history (187)

Rookie of the month for December-April
I have a tweet for game 6, so hereā€™s some of Donovanā€™s stats from the first 5 games. He has definitely become an EXTREMELY underrated playoff performer.

1: 27p/3a/10r on 50/43/100
2: 28p/2a/6r on 40/0/89
3: 22p/2a/11r on 45/56/-
4: 33p/4a/7r on 46/38/80
5: 23p/3a/5r on 41/14/100
Game 5 however, was a disaster for the Jazz. Up 20+ they squandered it all in the 3rd and 4th quarters thanks to an incredible run by Russell Westbrook. This was not one of Donovanā€™s best games of the series, probably his worst game.

Him after the game:
Here it is. Donovan Mitchellā€™s (probably) greatest game of his NBA career. He backs up his talk and drops 38 IN AN ELIMINATION GAME! He outplayed the MVP.

1 steal
14/26 FG (54%)

While this wasnā€™t a great Donovan game I had to include this. The Jazz beat the 60 win Rockets 116-108 to even the series. He also threw down this nasty putback.

Donovan will continue to improve as he matures.
Donovan is also arguably the most popular athlete that has ever played for the Jazz. While Stock and Malone were fantastic as players, they never got the media coverage Donovan gets. Donovan got his own signature shoe within 2 years of his career. (Don 2s releasing this summer.)
This thread hasnā€™t even gone into the great things heā€™s done off the court. What an amazing person he is and how heā€™s helped the Utah community and the people in it. Donovan is one of the most caring people in the league and a young star. I hope he retires a Jazzman.
Thatā€™s all for this thread. I spent a lot of time on it so thank you for coming all this way. I hope I will be able to comeback to this thread and add more playoff stats. Go Jazz!
