The kids are hard at work on their #Columbiacoloringbook this morning while I’m over here trying not to cry at the generosity of them making pages just for kids like Ethan. (We had to add a couple extra spleens though.)
Also had to flip the stomach and make both lungs into left ones. DIY at its finest.
Currently working to modify the heart. This is going to be tricky...
Pacemaker time.
I think all the time about the mama who chose, in her worst moment, to allow a doctor to cut into her baby’s chest and remove the vessel that’s now in Ethan’s, the one that carries blood to his lungs when nothing else could. #DonateLife
“It’s not me unless it has hair.” Because somehow the organ placement didn’t give it away.
So that was our morning. For the first time in his life, Ethan got to sit alongside his sister and color in a body that actually looks like his. Representation matters. Thank you for making it happen for him, @ColumbiaSurgery.
