Avoid being exposed and exposing others to #COVID19 by staying home as much as possible & maintaining 6 ft of distance from others. Since COVID-19 has never been seen in humans before, there are currently no FDA approved vaccines or drugs for its prevention or treatment.
Another important way you can make a difference is to donate blood. The @RedCross estimates that every 2 seconds, someone in the US needs blood. If you’re healthy and feel well, contact a local donation center to make an appointment today.
If you have fully recovered from #COVID19, donate plasma. COVID-19 patients develop proteins that might help fight the infection in their blood, and donated plasma could potentially help save the lives of other COVID-19 patients. If you have a question about a treatment or test being sold online, talk to your health care provider or doctor. If you have a question about a medication, call your pharmacist or the FDA—our team at @FDA_Drug_Info will try to help answer your questions. https://www.fda.gov/about-fda/center-drug-evaluation-and-research-cder/cder-division-drug-information
Don’t buy personal protective equipment such as surgical masks—they are critical for our frontline workers who are at much greater risk of being infected with #COVID19. Instead, @CDCgov has recommended cloth face coverings when social distancing is difficult to maintain.
Help reduce panic-buying of food. Buy 1 or 2 weeks’ worth of groceries and leave some food for others. There are no nationwide shortages of food and the food supply continues to be safe for people and animals
And last but certainly not least: wash your hands. Washing your hands regularly with soap & water for 20 seconds helps protect yourself and your family from #COVID19. If soap & water aren’t available, @CDCgov recommends alcohol-based hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol.
As you can see from this list, there are many actions you can take to make a difference during the #COVID19 pandemic to help keep yourself and others safe. This is how we will #SlowTheSpread together.
