From my latest US research, now available at http://LordAshcroftPolls.com"> http://LordAshcroftPolls.com : Despite the controversy over his early handling of coronavirus, President Trump& #39;s approval remains strong among his 2016 voters...
...and nearly 9 in 10 of his voters say he has been at least as good a President as they expected.
His highest marks are on the economy and national security - and though America is divided on his handling of the crisis (as on everything else), it is by no means his weakest area
For voters who were disappointed with his performance, his response to coronavirus encapsulated the reasons why.
Even some supporters were unimpressed with his handling of the crisis...
...but there was also an argument that once the crisis had peaked, Trump was best placed to rebuild the country.
Democrats, meanwhile, are finding it hard to summon much enthusiasm for Joe Biden...
...and only 7 in 10 Bernie Sanders primary voters said they currently intended to turn out and vote for Biden in November.
And while more said they would vote for Biden than Trump... more expected Trump to win.
