Interesting story from @ted_fraser on ON gov't plans for massive health info database to tackle #COVID_19. It cites changes to ON #privacy laws in 2 omnibus bills. Note that the first round of changes came in May 2019, well before COVID-19. @uOttawaTechLaw @OttawaHealthLaw
Note also that once the plan was outed, a gov't spokesperson said they “will be consulting with privacy stakeholders, including the province’s information and privacy commissioner". Why isn't @IPCinfoprivacy part of the discussion from the get go? #privacybydesign and all that.
Somebody leaked this or we wouldn't know about it until after the fact. The legislative changes were buried in omnibus bills. And it seems that @IPCinfoprivacy is reading about it in the paper with everyone else. Where is #transparency and #trust?
