The focus on policing/controlling/punishing pedestrian public space activity vs the free reign of drivers -- there& #39;s no theatre-y mayoral "request" to police to crack down on the post-Covid dangerous driving -- is a simply previous pattern made more stark & intense by Covid.
Curious there are resources now for, say, a police cruiser to sit in a park with its lights on and watch people, when there wasn& #39;t before to enforce traffic laws. The theatres may be closed, but there is a still a lot of theatre going on in the city.
The tone and approach to residents in other cities is profoundly different. Hello, Vancouver. The punishing historic toryism (no pun) runs deep in this city, from why the TTC has always blamed rides for its problems & inclined to punitive vs customer service measures, to today.
No mayoral request to the Province to shut down the crowded construction sites across the city that continued apace this morning. The hammer is directed at car-free individuals in public space. http://spacing.ca/toronto/2020/04/09/lorinc-ford-nations-phony-construction-shut-down/">https://spacing.ca/toronto/2...
One last thing, mayor was on CP24 saying he& #39;s not getting any/many emails about this. Obviously lots of tweets, but they seem unrecognized (a disingenuous use of the medium if you only broadcast, but that& #39;s another story). Email, FWIW.
