Woke up today with headache and sneezed twice. Ei could this be COVID? I asked myself. Few hours later, I get a call that the patient I’ve been attending to for the past 18 days has tested positive for COVID so I should come for testing. You can imagine how I felt.
Knowing that I did almost daily IV reset for this patient. The last one being last night
As I left the ward last night, the night nurses asked if I can get them some of the mask 😷 I wore cos they didn’t have some to wear for their shift and we’re scared cos there was a suspected case on the ward. Unfortunately I had given out all of the N95s I had bought
So I couldn’t help them at the time. This morning however when the results of the patient was made known after a week of waiting, I got to the ward to find the morning nurses clad in PPEs while getting tested for COVID.
Who really are the frontliners? Are they those who take care of the confirmed cases and hence go in fully protected or those who see ask sorts of patients, not knowing who is or who isn’t positive and are not protected in any way
To my fellow healthcare workers, we were crying for PPEs then all of a sudden the topic changed to who is a frontliner. Just because frontliners were getting 50% increase in an already unimpressive salary
Everyone who’s seen me in this hospital knows I’m always in my facemask from 7:30am to 8-10pm when I close, yet I’m still terrified as I await my results cos close to 70-80% of the people I interact with in the hospital daily are not protecting each other.
I usually will go like, I’m protecting you 😷 but you’re not protecting me. Because wearing the mask not only protects you from getting COVID but also protects the other person close to you who may not have
Yes, you’re a child of God, your immunity is unparalleled so you’ll not die. We thank God for that. But have you thought about the less fortunate person close to you? Your colleague asthmatic or the sickler 🤔
Prof PLange RHule had a presidential jet fly to get him Actemra to help save him, yet he didn’t make it. Will that have been done for you? You Mere house officer or staff nurse 😂. You’ll just die in misery. God forbid though 🙏
Yes I’m distraught and no where close to being fine. I’m gonna do the right thing and call one of these numbers?
