It's really important the #LabourReport is not misinterpreted, causing further distress to Jewish people.

It does show Labour staffers operated as an often vicious right-wing political faction who sought electoral destruction for the party which paid their salaries.
It alleges a "litany of mistakes" on effectively dealing with antisemitism and analyses whether anti-Corbyn factionalism was a factor.

It DOESN'T show antisemitism was manufactured or there was a witch hunt. It shows it was a real problem that wasn't dealt with enough severity.
It also shows that LOTO - that is, Jeremy Corbyn's office - pushed for action against Chris Williamson, Ken Livingstone and Jackie Walker. I'll be dogpiled again for saying so, but it doesn't stop it from being true.
The report says: "This report thoroughly disproves any suggestion that antisemitism is not a problem in the Party, or that it is all a “smear” or a “witch-hunt”."
It adds: "The report’s findings prove the scale of the problem, and could help end the denialism amongst parts of the Party membership which has further hurt Jewish members and the Jewish community."

Everyone needs to read and absorb those words.
The correct approach all along was to say: Labour members overwhelmingly abhor antisemitism and the leadership isn't antisemitic, but a minority ARE antisemitic and others are in serious denial about that, AND some are cynically using antisemitism to smear the whole left.
This "walk and chew gum" approach was savaged from two directions: from those who claimed it was attempting to deflect responsibility from the leadership, and from those who claimed it was fuelling a smear campaign.

But it was the right principled approach all along.
The hurt and distress of so many Jewish people is real, and that includes many committed Jewish socialists, some of whom joined Labour because of Corbyn.
So yes, have fury at the allegations against Labour officials and demand that action is taken.

But don't let the seriousness of antisemitism - or the real hurt caused to Jewish people - be lost in this. Don't ignore their genuine distress, hurt and anger.
