Wow. Just wow. About the looks, probably-sometimes-a little too cheesy for me, yes. But the talents they have are just... Wow. I mean... I can't even speak. Like where the hell am I for the past 7 years?! Why do I judge by the looks/cover they had?!
I never really listen to them before. I used to be like, "Uggh No, too cheesy. Less masculine. Never. Uh-uh Never" until that Carpool Karaoke.
To be honest I watched it only to laugh at them... Cause they're like worldwide known artist, but their English... After that I search their interview and still laugh at them, or slowly turns into laugh with them?
But they're actually did well on that carpool karaoke. I can really enjoy finesse and circles part that they sang. And I used to think why don't they learn English more, and write their song in English?
And then... Someone close to me said that Korean Nationalism are un-debatable. So... That's makes me jealous actually cause Indonesian artist can't actually shine like they did.
And one day. Korean Government makes announcement that they're willing to export some of their test kit and safety gown for Indonesia, when another country ask them, but their focus in only 3 countries, one of them being Indonesia.
And then I feel like, "Wow they're super kind. I should do something in return". I ask my bf opinion about what song should I listen and learn to sing first. He recommend, "Make it Right".
While the day of quarantine are sometimes too depressing, i find one of my laughter source. It was Run BTS on V app. It was a gamr show, and practically full of crackheads.
And then my bf said, "They're not just some crackhead you know, here listen one of them sing Lost Stars. I know you love Adam Levine so much. But just try to listen". And yep. Angelic voice.
Then he told me to try to ignore my ego and focus on their talents more. "Read the translate lyrics. Listen to their vocal range. Dance move". And I did.
To be honest at first I can only tell which one is their leader. Cause he has dimples and speak english well, the rest of them look the same for me. But when I started to control my ego, and start to focus on their talents... I can finally tell them apart.
Well I still never watched their specific music at first. I was only keep watching run BTS, but focus in the talents a little bit. I found that they're really good dancer, can play sport, brave, and smart.
And then I get back to my first video that I watched about them. BTS Carpool Karaoke, and try to objectively listen to their vocal range. Wow.
Well now I listen to their other song, read what the lyrics meaning, vocal range... And wow. Just wow. They're not just crackheads. They're talented. Even more touching that they really used to have nothing, has a lot of haters (like I used to be).
And they're actually good from the start. But probably I was being xenophobic. Forget that I'm also from Asia, cause I watched too many western pop culture. But lemme say it again they're good.
Lemme make it super clear here. BTS are good. They're super talented and love their fans so much. I'm ashamed that I used to turn and look the other way when it comes to them, or K-Pop in general.
I think that's it for today. I learn a lot.
