Like most pieces in Jacobin that mention anarchism, this one relies on a cheap straw man that reduces a broad political tradition to a one-dimensional caricature.

Mass politics is not in the voting booth. It’s in our workplaces, neighborhoods, schools, and prisons. https://twitter.com/jacobinmag/status/1249547862251200515
We should also recognize how the author’s perspective only sees the white, cis male, North American milieu of left politics. Even during the heyday of crust, anarchists were involved in everything from prisoner support to anti-fascism, while learning from global struggles.
Meanwhile, the author expects communities engaged in struggles at this very moment to curb their limited resources towards the money pit of elections, giving free labor to political candidates
