Dayot Upamecano: Perfect for Manchester United

(Thread)
First thing I would like to touch on is him being the perfect partner for Maguire. Throughout the season we’ve seen Maguire being paired with Lindelöf, both of these CB don’t have much speed in them and they have been exposed when facing fast forwards. Maguire is not fast...
In the slightest, we’ve seen him pair with Tuanzebe and Bailly, who are very fast CB, and Maguire performed excellently with them. They compliment eachother, the exact same way Rio complimented Vidic with his pace. But we all know Bailly is very injury prone, Tuanzebe isn’t...
Proven enough and we’re looking to offload a few CB this summer, so Upamecano is the perfect man for the job. He offers so much more than Lindelöf and he’ll compliment Maguire perfectly.
Another reason why Upamecano is perfect for United is because we’ve seen time after time Maguire having to cover Lindelöf with aerial battles simply because Lindelöf is poor in the air. Upamecano’s aerial duel success percentage is 70%, compared to Lindelöf who has won 55% of...
His aerial duels in a United shirt and Maguire edges them both with 72%. Maguire leaving his area to cover Lindelöf could potentially expose us at the back because there’s too much open space where the opposition could create chances. Maguire having the freedom when he knows...
Upamecano will be strong in the air means our defence will be composed and their poistioning is perfect so the opposition have no room to exploit.
Upamecano also wins the ball (tackles and interceptions) on average 4.3 times per 90, Lindelöf wins the ball 1.5 times per 90. The levels are genuinely staggering!
People also say that Lindelöf’s passing ability is very good when his passing accuracy (86%) is actually lower than Upamecano’s (89%) passing accuracy. Another myth that is thrown around with Lindelöf’s name.
Going into the future it’s safe to say that we are experiencing prime Victor Lindelöf, who is very mediocre at the moment and can be a liability in certain situations. In my opinion he’s not a centre back that would be part of a team that wins Premier League titles.
As for Upamecano I would see him being a superstar at Manchester United. Last year he stated “When you’re young you dream of playing for Manchester United, but to get there, you have to work”, and he’s proven that over the last two years. He says it’s his dream to play for us...
So as fans we know instantly he’d add that extra 30% to his performances because he has that hunger and the passion to play for Manchester United. He also fits into the category Solskjaer is looking for, people who want to play for us.
He has a release clause of just under ÂŁ50m, this summer Manchester United should be all over this deal.
