Natal Chart Placements for Aang from Avatar the Last Airbender: A (Long) Thread ✨🌬⬇️📿✨
3H Sagittarius Sun, disposited by 9H Gemini Jupiter—Aang is a daring goofball who rides dangerous animals for fun. His early life is spent in a monastery, surrounded by monks who are also teachers. In addition, Monk Gyatso is both a teacher and a father figure to young Aang.
3H Suns are often bright & talented as kids—Aang was the youngest airbending master in history when he earned his tattoos at 12. He loves to show off his innovations, like the air scooter, or little circle thing⬇️He was popular with peers before being revealed as the Avatar.
3H Sun is also an “I ❤️ my car/horse” placement. Appa is both Aang’s mode of transport & beloved companion. 3H Suns also tend to need or experience many scenery changes & make frequent short trips. Aang spends plenty of time traveling during the course of the show.
3H Sag Mercury—The very first time he gets captured, Aang immediately sasses the guards 🔥. Whenever the Gaang arrives in a new city, Aang tries to explore the area & chat with the locals. He wants to understand his immediate environment, for however long he may be there.
Libra rising would work for Aang's smooth, peace-keeping demeanor. Domicile Venus in 1H gives him the agency to make his projected persona align with his self-image. He tries to be in line with the values and appearance of his culture, but also asserts his personal traits.
1H Libra Venus conj Mars— This conj may reflect how Aang balances action vs reaction in his duties. Libra is a cardinal sign, and Aang likes to make peace by making friends. However, he also demonstrates more proactive Avatar tendencies in the post-show comics & Korra flashbacks
Libra Mars 1H—Aang isn't above getting creative with the truth in order to achieve his harmony. In S1E11, The Great Divide, he lies to two warring tribes about the origin of their ancient feud, to get them to stop fighting and work together for survival. And it works!
Libra Mars conjunct its dispositor in 1H—Aang won’t take action if it doesn’t match his personal values (L2 in 1H). Aang doesn’t kill Fire Lord Ozai; direct aggression would be contrary to his identity (1H) as the last living Airbender, a cultural pacifist.
9H Gemini Moon conj Jupiter—this moon indicates mental affinity & emotional connections with people from other cultures, and a desire to learn from them. The Jupiter conjunction suggests that Aang will be seen as a learned man, a great teacher, a spiritual authority.
12H Virgo Saturn—I chose to place Saturn here, rejoicing, in a night chart. Why? Saturn in Virgo can be read as placing restrictions on the native in terms of their duties and service toward others. Aang was called to duty at a young age because of the approaching threat of war.
Unsurprisingly, he rebelled against the restrictions being placed upon him—in a very 12H manner. He ran away, got caught in a storm, used his powers to shield himself & Appa in the sea, and ended up in the spectacular circumstance of being isolated in an iceberg for 100 years
Nodes on the 9H/3H Gemini/Sag Axis—Having a Sagittarius South Node conjunct the Sun and Mercury would be a neat little nod to Aang being able to talk (Mercury) to his past lives (SN), as well as to his last incarnation being a firebender.
Having a 9H Gemini North Node would indicate that Aang's path in life tends toward being an eternal seeker of truths, constantly branching out and learning from others, because it satisfies the mind (conjunct Moon & Jupiter). It's also a nod to Aang being born an Air Nomad.
