A couple of thoughts about the leaked report into Labour. First, hardly anyone knows about it - Left Twitter know about it, our opponents in the PLP and the bureaucracy know about it. Everyone else is pretty much oblivious.
Our political priority on the left is to make sure that Labour members, and as many members of the public as possible, understand what happened to the Corbyn project from 2015 onwards. No one else will.
Once people understand what happened we can set out how stop it happening again. This means mobilising across all the Labour institutions - the unions have to accept that their share of the blame for allowing such a toxic culture to develop in what is, after all, their party.
But absent a general awareness we won't get very far. So, think strategically about how to reach out to Labour members. If you want to make a left-wing government possible, you can't skip this step.
The Labour Party must become a democratic institution, characterised by high levels of sustainable participation by its members. It must become a space where people can come together and develop a shared agenda for government, informed by a clear-eyed understanding of reality.
If it wasn’t obvious before, it must be obvious now that the Labour Party needs to have a constitutional convention.
The Party can't win if it is an inert mass presided over by unaccountable elites. The culture of contempt for left-wing ideas and politicians in the Labour Party is a consequence of its structure: the bureaucrats didn’t feel accountable to members because they weren’t.
