If you believed Ford and dismiss Reade, you're a shameless hack. No other explanation.

And for the record, I don't necessarily accept Reade's story as absolutely true. I'm generally agnostic about it. But my point is that there cannot be any logical or honest reason to believe Ford but not Reade. None at all.
