Thread:

Before all this I used to spend a lot of time trying to explain to people why what the performing arts can teach businesses about connection, courage & compassion.

I would get many puzzled looks.

People couldn’t connect the two
I think they thought I was a bit bonkers (I am but this is beside the point).

Now, every day, I see creativity & expression like never before.

Families performing musical theatre from their front room, grandmas dancing with grandchildren, workplace choirs, the list is endless
I see videos of people singing on LinkedIn, of people playing at being rock stars on the roof of their extensions.

Music, theatre, dance is getting us through this.

It is reminding us what it is to be human and connected.

It is binding us and healing us.
After this, we’ll ask lots of questions about how to keep the good things about lockdown in place at work.

Here’s an idea:

Don’t stop letting the arts bring us joy & connection.

Don’t stop sharing your passion for them.

Don’t stop the silliness and play.
Keep performing, laughing, crying, singing and dancing.

Never let yourself forget how it made you feel more human, more connected, more creative and more brave.

And maybe support the arts - god knows they need it.
