እዚህ ሰፈር የወደቀ ዛፍ እና ምሳር የሚበዛበት ያው feminism ነው እና here is a thread of sorts/የአቋም መግለጫ:

For the longest time of my feministing I found myself finding it hard to identify as a radical feminist, because I always associated radical feminism with anger. But a woman ለዛውም living in Ethiopia has a lot of things to be angry about. I see you internalised sexism!

It was so hard for me to accept my anger because an angry woman, especially a black angry woman can never be celebrated by society. Why is anger in women so disdained? Simple! Because anger is the bridge between ideas and actions!

2/n
An angry woman would tirelessly work to dismantle the patriarchy! So here I am an angry radical feminist ready to dismantle the patriarchy to pieces! P. S. Patriarchy is a system and does not translate to men. Do men often times benefit from patriarchy? Yes, patriarchy≠men

Feminism and religion. So religion isn't something I have a vast knowledge about. I am an orthodox Christian descent but I can't claim the church as ያደኩበት ሃይማኖት this, that because I don't remember my religious interests extended far from my younger age.

4/n
But I can highlight why I found it hard to connect with "የእናት/የአባቴ ሀይማኖት". I guess the most important thing would be the fact that period stigma for the most part emanates form religion.
5/n
5/n
Imagnine! The very natural way of my period cycle is as a punishment from an all forgiving God! I can't go into any religious institution because I am on my period, hence I am impure. So a religion that calls me impure because I bleed every month and denies me from praying

in it's compound, is fair to me and celebrates my equity? This isn't a trait only of orthodox Christianity but many religions have this as a common denominator. I would however would like to note amina wadud and the various Indian women that led #RightToPray movement.

7/n
The above two instances can highlight feminism and religion aren't mutual exclusive. Religion can't be something we can never question, questions are how some people understand things better. Being defensive and not providing enough explanations, is a trait of tyranny.

Of course women in power. This has to be the most contentious one. In one hand you will find both women and men saying "of course we need to have women in power" but within split seconds find both making it hard for women to excel in leadership positions.
9/n
9/n
The double standards/added burden. A good example here is ወ/ሮ መአዛ አሸናፊ. From the "she came to power as a gender card and not because she is qualified" to "ተማሪዎቹ ሲጠፉ ለምን ዝም አለች" are identifiers of her short leadership role.
10/n
10/n
I firmly believe in accountability irrespective of the sex attached to the person. But I would like to note how our sexism jumps out in question a woman in power. We expect women to be miracle workers and are quick to point out their inability the moment we find fault.
11/n
11/n
All the male predecessors of መአዛ አሸናፊ have been in that position & fucking up for eternity but the moment we find fault in her, she is incapable and she is just a gender card. ተማሪዎቹ የት ገቡ የሚለው ጥያቄ የጠቅላይ ፍ/ቤት mandate መቼ እንደሆነ አላውቅም!
12/n
12/n
Also impartiality of the courts, the moment we have a female President of the Supreme Court ገደል ይገባል? This is in no way to say we should excuse incompetency for female leaders but to acknowledge how we are quick to identify incompetence in women in power.

Sexual explicitness in women. "The who do you think you are?" As Virgie Tovar author of 'You Have the Right to Remain Fat' puts it; "Unsolicited masculine sexual attention & the drive to control feminine bodies goes hand in hand." Patriarchy punishes sexually explicit women
14/n
14/n
because they take away from the power it has over them. Women are generally submissive and shy away from sexual talks as they are on the receiving end. Sex is something done to a woman and not something shared for intimacy between equal partners.
15/n
15/n
That is the narrative of patriarchy for sex. Women should only view sex for reproductive purposes and self-pleasure and asking for what you want shouldn't be the norm. Ladies, self-love is the best kinda love! Explore your body, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

The infamous "feminists do what they do for funding & to advance other agendas". This mostly comes from critics that have never done a single thing to elivate the life of a woman and they always have this mythical "የገጠር ሴት" that is always there to silence my questions.
17/n

ያው ሀበሻ ብዙ አባባሎች አሉት and I would like to bring ሌባ እናት ልጇን አታምንም here. If you are the kinda person to only do good deeds for remuneration, you tend to question everyone's good deed.

Sexual orientation and feminism. The "you are a feminist? You must be a lesbian."
Human rights are not rights where you can forum shop and pick your favourite and deny the others. The LGBTQ communities are humans and you can't deny them rights. You will never catch me on

the side of oppression.
I often wondered why I as Rediet am not questioned for my views and why we drag the whole movement in the conversation. I see you, you sly dog you! Patriarchy!
There is no single way of being a feminist, besides the underlying concept of course.

20/n
So the more we attribute my personal views to feminism and question the whole movement to explain my point, the more feminists who have a different idea from mine find it difficult to identify with feminism. Hence reduction in the number of feminists.
21/n
21/n
As any movement feminism grows on the basis of discussion & criticism. But I will always stand with my feminist comrades, I might have a differing point & I will explain that & put my idea forth but I will never stifle your idea for z very principle of freedom of expression.
22/n
22/n
You misogynistic zealots have your own band and gang up on feminism, so you don't need my help. I will point out my disagreement if any but I will never stifle a feminist voice. I would also like to point out how this thread will quickly turn into a ground to belittle me.

This will be where I will be judged on how I present myself, get slut-shamed and we resort to personal attacks. Wher a man who shared the same sentiments በሽሙጥ ይታለፋል "ደግሞ የወንዶቹ ፌሚኒስቶች". This obviously is a clear example of sexism.

I would like to stress that patriarchy and men aren't the same! Granted men often times benefit from patriarchy but it also affects them to the negative too.
P. S. I am only going to entertain civil discussions for the rest I am practicing my chapter on profanity.
