sorry but why the fuck are they even *thinking* about lifting lockdown at this stage? we need another three weeks minimum to get on top of everything and get test and trace infrastructure in place.
and even then, we'll need a phased approach out of it. restrictions on large gatherings continuing. ensuring indoor public spaces can maintain distance.
yes, we'll probably hit peak this week, but we need to stay locked down for some time after that and take measures to ensure there isn't a second wave of infections. that involves testing and tracing, facemasks, and taking it slowly.
A non-exhaustive list of things that need to be in place before we should even consider lifting lockdown:
-adequate PPE and ventilators to handle a possible second wave
-test and trace infrastructure better than a shitty app.
-increasing isolation period of known/suspected cases to 14 days from *end* of symptoms in line with WHO recommendations
-strict enforcement on workplaces who are not allowing workers to isolate
-distribution of face masks on public transport
-improvements to hand hygiene infrastructure, including ubiquitous sanitiser stations
-continued awareness of hand hygiene and other health behaviours
-tighter capacity limits on indoor public spaces
-seriously cannot emphasise enough how many tests we need to be doing per day after the end of lockdown
