When writing this I was making the point that cis men and trans women do not have the exact same experiences growing up. I was detailing my own experiences and how being associated with men was traumatic for me.

But in the process I erased the harm gender roles have on cis men.

I am sorry for the hurt I have caused.

I am also sorry for not doing this sooner. This tweet details a very personal and painful part of my life and my gut reaction to the valid criticism I received was to get angry and lash out.

I decided to step back and sort out my feelings.

With this account, I& #39;ve always wanted to not only speak out on trans-specific problems but raise the voices of other groups and their problems.

In this instance I fucked up and sent out a harmful message instead that erases a very real struggle for a specific group of people.

I don& #39;t want, or expect, forgiveness.

Instead all I ask is that you spread this thread around and lift up the voices of cis men who have been negatively damaged by society& #39;s rigid gender roles and expectations.

And hopefully, we can undo some of the damage I have done.
