I’m sick of this idea that any musician in korea singing/rapping in korean gets to be slapped with the label of “kpop” - it’s ignorant and just plain stupid. Artists like BTS (yes I said it, cry about it bitches) deserve more than just being put into a box.

They’re rappers, singers, dancers, etc. They experiment with all kinds of genres from old school hip hop, trap, RnB, pop, rock, afrobeats, edm. Kpop is not a fucking genre. It is an INDUSTRY. Which I am pretty sure bts have specified that they wish they could stop being boxed in.

Apologist armys are guilty of doing this shit and it’s not okay. Constantly saying “but they ARE kpop” is what allows western media to keep them on the sidelines and downplay their achievements as “just kpop acts” and not put them in the same category as other mainstream artists.

They associate bts’ wins as a win for kpop which is insulting because all their efforts and hard work was not used just to be seen as players for a whole town. It’s condescending and a slap in the face to all the members considering all the blood, sweat and tears they pour -

- into their work. In conclusion, all I want is for you backwards losers to realise that just because we want our faves to be seen as worthwhile individuals worth more than just a “kpop band” does not mean that your faves are “lesser” than them.

It simply means that we want better for our faves and if that rubs you the wrong way, that is not our problem. Just go on about your day with your warrior fancams and we’ll go on about ours with our countless achievements and more
