Why do we have to wait for a crisis to be a great nation? That's like saying, "food is only important when you're on the brink of starvation." How about being well-balanced & properly functioning in the first place? https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/1249447313791168512
And before people jump in and call me anti-British - I'm very much a lover of this country. I adore our sense of humour, I admire our resilience, I appreciate our quirkiness & ingenuity. But I wish we could maximise our potential outside of a crisis. We have so much more to offer
Why must our backs always have to be to the wall before we show our true 'greatness'? Why can't we flourish out in the open? Have some confidence in our youth instead of constantly putting them down? Passing down our knowledge to each generation instead of punching down?
British pride is rooted in crisis because it is the only time the nation *feels* like it takes control, when in reality it is *forced* to. When this is all over, we have to step back & understand why our confidence is flagging so much that we only obtain order through chaos
