A few people have reacted with a bit of hostility to this. So let's examine it.

Did Johnson have coronavirus? Yes. He tested positive.

Did he have full on covid-19?

Two possibilities..... https://twitter.com/Geoelte_Spinne/status/1249374705565544448
Scenario 1#

He was ill for a few days. He got really sick last Sunday and was admitted to hospital.

He entered intensive care on Monday, with a *respiratory illness*.

That's a cough, difficulty breathing or at least shortness of breath. Likely fever.
He spent the next few days, in *intensive care*, being "a fighter" and having his "life saved" during "moments when it could have gone either way".

(Intensive care for covid-19 - oxygen therapy, possible intubation, sometimes even tracheostomy.)
Then, 2-3 days after being in this state, he recovers enough, from *intensive care*, to rise on Easter Sunday, to give a stirring speech to the nation for 5 minutes, strong enough to do so with a clear voice, no breathing issues, no residual cough from his ordeal.
Scenario 2#

He feels unwell on Sunday. Fever, aches, and crappy all over.

This, coupled with the deaths he sees reports of, the pressure of what's going on in the country, and having his dream job become a terrible nightmare, causes massive anxiety, making symptoms seem worse.
His minders take him to hospital, docs check him. They find that his coronavirus is mild but he is not in good mental shape. They give him a room there to keep an eye to make sure he doesn't worsen.

Cummings's goons have STRONG words with hospital management.
Hospital management have STRONG words with the *handful* of staff who are charged with the *medical care of the prime minister*.

It is explicitly understood that if they go blabbing that his Covid case isn't that serious their career will be over and prosecutions are likely....
...additionally given the Boris fawning in the media, they also probably realise that any attempt to "whistle blow" will result in a newspaper crucifixion on Good Friday, in any case he isn't *well*, and medical ethics do not allow for them to blab about patients.
Johnson's minders think about the situation and turn it to their advantage. Run stories in their very friendly media about how brave Boris is doing, keep him off press conferences during what could be the worst week, keep the news talking about something other than the death...
...and calculate the best time for him to make a reappearance.

Dom: "Easter Sunday Boris! Yeah I know you still feel like crap but your nation needs you. Come on, you can do it!"

Dom whispers to doc: "Get that fucking idiot on his feet please, I'm not sending Patel out again."
Nobody is alleging that this is some intricate and well thought out plot.

I am saying that the severity of his condition was vastly exaggerated so they could try to keep a lid on things and keep him out the way of any stress while he was having a few symptoms.
They refuses to take EU ventilators then lied about the email going to spam.

They won't count care home deaths.

They've lied about PPE and have threatened medical staff who speak out.

Exaggerating Bojo's condition for sympathy and distraction is a step down, not a step up.
