Watching the reaction to MI’s tweet just shows how good Nigerian rappers are made to suffer for the lack of intelligence of average Nigerian listeners. That’s why artists have to “dumb” down their verses and make ji pa ji ji pa music for radio

It’s so wild because I know a lot of good artistes who have mad skill but because the majority of the population is uneducated and the educated can still make dim comments like what I’ve seen in the past few days, they’ve had to make radio jingles instead of good rap music

So you can’t blame any artist who is first trying to blow up in his domestic community cuz this terrain is full of people that can’t even understand these lyrics. Talk less of vibe to it. And it’s happening globally.

We grew up listening to Nas, Jay Z, lupe fiasco, twista, ludacris, TI, Kanye (the old Kanye) and greats who actually made raps that had you checking rap genius and trying to understand the entendres and wordplay. We used to print put them lyrics bro!!!

Now it’s mumble rappers and 5 words then an adlib in the back. You will hear more “skrrr skrr” “whoop” “ice” “pateks” than you will hear an actual bar. Only a few rappers still hold it down. Times have changed but I think listeners just got lazy.

That’s why Kendrick, drake, JCole and a few others find it so easy to be above the pack. Nobody is bringing their a game!!
