Democracy isn't an honest system of governance—it's a way for plutocrats to implicitly offload blame for their misconduct onto constituents
The whole conceit of democracy is really a form of gaslighting.

The government manipulates and abuses its people while convincing them that the public as "electors" are indeed the puppeteers of the system which facilitates their own mistreatment
Federal elections are exercises in mass manipulation. State elections are a joke.

Been to a public hearing for a local issue before? Met your delegates? If so you know the only people who get involved in local politics are A) the rich and bored or B) loser pariahs who don't work
That's the biggest problem with democracy-- politics aren't remotely accessible to normal people.

Between working, raising a family, maintaining a home, staying healthy and enjoying a social life, normal people literally don't have time to study "the issues"
Think about how much surplus time it would even take to reach a truly considered and impassioned political identity. Most of us shoot from the hip and tow a party line that was ingrained via family/community association
One of the wokest things you can do is to not only forgive others for their bad political opinions but indeed to compassionately disregard them–– knowing full well most people's relationship with politics is a product of pathology and passive socialization
I think about my dad, a "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" middle class educator. It'd be easy to resent his neoliberal sensibilities, but truly nothing in his life ever forced him to challenge his own premises. Even if he could, he'd be ostracized by friends and coworkers
He's like most people. Has a wife, a high-schooler still, a house to fix, dogs to walk, hobbies to fulfill etc.

It's unbearably cruel of society to expect people like him to process a constant avalanche of political drivel and come away with some cogent philosophy about it all
The Trump-deranged "resistance" mom, the Q-anon obsessed plumber, the wide-eyed Bernie phone-banking co-ed, the unpaid Gary Johnson volunteer...

Pity ALL these people, knowing each one fetters away years of precious time to a wretched system they have no tangible stake in
Don't vote.

Don't even think about politics.

Political franchise isn't a privilege— it's a horrible burden which wrongly makes its impotent participants feel guilty and aggravated at each another for the evil our elites do
