EASTER THOUGHTS: It's possible to see Jesus as a great moral teacher without believing in the resurrection. But I've personally come to believe that Jesus came to liberate the captive and rescue the oppressed. And there is no liberation without our bodies.

The Easter story means that God Himself came down and lived in a physical body to make fair all the unfair things that happened to our bodies here. He knows about the slave ships, about the gas chambers. He knows about rape and miscarriage, about prison and about addiction.

He promised to give us our bodies back and said our bodies were the home of God.Our bodies that had been abused and discarded, and treated as less than holy, like His was.He came back with a perfect body that still had scars - maybe to change our minds about what perfection meant

Maybe to show us that nothing anyone else did to our bodies could make them less holy, less than the home that God has promised us.
