English proficiency for recent Malaysian graduates is bad. I have been calling at least 13 people today offering job opportunities for the oil & gas industry. Some of them are locals and most of them are international companies.

I dont expect you guys to be at the same level as the British or Americans. But at least, you guys should be able to communicate smoothly without using all the filler words.

I cant call and converse to you in Malay. Our calls are recorded for quality and training. We also send the calls to our respective clients as well for audit purposes.

Please, dont use all the bombastic words. Use simple English, it helps. On top of that, practice talking. You will not improve if you don't practice. Avoid all the filler words like err, mmm and so on.

I have to reject most of them because the clients need someone who can speak fluently. You will be communicating with all different departments to all business levels. Please Malaysians, improve.
