Modernist artists and NYC window dressing seems to have been quite a thing. Here's Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns' window for Bonwit Teller, 1950 (the Duchamp piece in the previous tweet is of course 'Lazy Hardware', the lazy existence is entirely mine).
