I’ve been stressing about this all day https://twitter.com/baddestmamajama/status/1249134970527981568
I was a music major in undergrad, so my favorite and most eye-opening classes were like, violin studio (Beth Newdome) or orchestra (Alex Jimenez)
in grad school, there were a few that were amazing and eye-opening in such different ways. learning to read a title page with david kastan, being way out of my depth in molly murray’s donne seminar, being dumped in the deep end of the reformation by alan stewart
peter stallybrass’s book history class shaped my career; at FSU, intro theory with daniel vitkus was the first time studying literature was hard, which made me want to do it more. margreta degrazia blew my mind with historiography; max cavitch gave me prosody at another level.
which is all to say I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been moved so many times in so many different ways by so many wonderful teachers. so that’s embarrasing.
