🚨 New Thread 🚨
If there is a bowler from current generation whom you wouldn't want to face when at his peak is Mitchell Starc. He has been an exceptional bowler so far but he has also had to face many injuries in his career so far. Let us analyse his bowling action.
He has remodeled his loading up a bit recently and has had a somewhat positive effect on his bowling so far.
Starc has a smooth and easy run-up and he relies on his rhythm more than speed while approaching the crease. After the jump he has a very light backfoot contact which transfers the momentum carried through run-up into the bowling action.
During his front foot contact he plants his heel first and then the rest of his foot because this will not suddenly put the entire pressure on the leg. After that he locks his front foot and drives his chest forward and delays the bowling arm to gain pace.
His follow through is generally smooth and towards the target with head pretty much still. The thing which makes him injury prone is his body. It is not balanced according to his height which means his upper torso and lower torso are not in proportion.
Another thing is his strides during run-up are big which also makes the final drag too long. The strides should not be too small or too long those should be balanced. This long drag can easily stretch or damage the ligaments and tendons in leg.
